Hull Fair

posted 17 Oct 2017, 04:00 by Google Google   [ updated 17 Oct 2017, 04:01 ]

We invited our grown ups into school to help us to learn a Hull Fair poem by an author from Hull. We matched rhyming words, we clarified two of the trickiest words and then we created text maps for each rhyming couplet! We had lots of help and encouragement from the grown ups and we enjoyed signifying the poem for everyone to see! We are poets!

Gingerbread Biscuits!

posted 10 Oct 2017, 01:11 by Google Google   [ updated 10 Oct 2017, 01:11 ]

This week we've been baking biscuits! We made gingerbread biscuits with sugar glass windows...just like the cottage's windows in Hansel and Gretel! We loved getting our hands covered in gingerbread dough...yuk! They tasted delicious! Well done, Year Four!

4LA were the luckiest class in Hull this week! We got the chance to visit the Pride of Hull ferry and the docks! Here's what we got up to...

4LA learn about the Ambassadors of Hull!

posted 3 Jul 2017, 02:50 by Nicholas Basson   [ updated 3 Jul 2017, 02:51 ]

4LA learnt lots of information about the Ambassadors of Hull in our recent visit to Hull. We interviewed members of the public about their opinions of the city, we researched famous ambassadors both past and present and went 'ambassador spotting' in Hull City Centre! What a brilliant day!

Big Bang Show!

posted 22 May 2017, 06:12 by Richard Sparks   [ updated 22 May 2017, 06:13 ]

4LA are almost ready for their Big Bang show in a couple of weeks. Here we are practising our songs on our glockenspiels with Miss Giddings. We can't wait to show off our musical talents!

4LA loved learning about the water cycle this week!

posted 22 May 2017, 04:09 by Richard Sparks   [ updated 22 May 2017, 04:14 ]

We learnt a song and dance using GoNoodle and then used our new vocabulary to create huge posters to explain the water cycle. Also, Suhayl created a miniature water cycle in a freezer bag and was mesmerised by the process.

Data Handling!

posted 17 May 2017, 02:52 by Google Google   [ updated 17 May 2017, 02:53 ]

4LK enjoyed their first look at data handling using chalk on the classroom carpet! We represented our favourite colours practically.

Skittles!

posted 16 May 2017, 02:05 by Google Google   [ updated 16 May 2017, 02:05 ]

4LA loved investigating whether the blackcurrant flavour was the most common flavour in individual packets of Skittles. We created tally charts and bar graphs. We also created questions for other groups to answer. We were so tempted to eat some of the sweets!

Flowers!

posted 15 May 2017, 06:21 by Google Google   [ updated 15 May 2017, 06:21 ]

The children in 4LA loved dissecting tulips to learn about the parts of a flower. We found the stigma, style and anthers as well as leaves, petals and the stem. Why not try dissecting flowers at home to identify the parts for yourselves?
