Land of Green Ginger Day

posted 26 Jun 2018, 02:36 by Google Google   [ updated 26 Jun 2018, 02:36 ]

On Monday 18th June, a mysterious wooden crate appeared in the middle of our playground! We all wondered what was inside! We opened the crate in assembly to find the special book and our Land of Green Ginger Day began. We answered Resilient Reader questions about the Prologue, imagined what could be inside one of the other crates hidden underground and looked at maps of Hull to find places from within the book. In the afternoon, our parents and carers joined us for some exciting activities. When we got home, the book was already there waiting for us! What an amazing day!

This week, some lucky Year Six children went to the James Reckitt Children's Book Awards. They have been reading five challenging books since January. During the day, they got the chance to vote for their favourite book after hearing the authors talk about their stories. They met the authors, had their books signed and enjoyed the amazing Malarkey Park too! What a brilliant day!

Look who came to visit us this week! Ex-Hall Road pupils Jack Logan and Masimbaashe Matongo popped in to see us during our Aspirations Week. We had lots of time to talk to them about playing for Hull FC and how hard they've had to work to achieve their place in the squad. We even got their autographs! How inspirational!

We fund-raised £155 towards our trip by collecting coins in Smarties tubes and by selling cakes after school - thank you for all of your contributions! What a brilliant day we had in the sunshine! Take a look at what we got up to...

A Special Visitor!

posted 27 Apr 2018, 02:19 by Google Google   [ updated 27 Apr 2018, 02:20 ]

We had a visit from Lewis! Lewis is a very special black Labrador - he is 9 months old and is a therapy dog in training. As part of his training, he needed to visit as many different places and people as possible. His job is to deliver smiles! He has visited sick children in hospital, some vulnerable people and today it was our turn to see Lewis! He did some tricks for us and showed us how kind and gentle he is. He was great at giving cuddles! We had a stethoscope to listen to his heart beat and we could even shine a torch into his mouth to check his teeth. What a clever dog! Thank you Lewis (and David, his handler). Lewis certainly delivered smiles!

*Note* Since his visit, he has passed his assessment and Lewis is now a fully trained Therapy Dog. Congratulations Lewis!
